Wireless Internet, TV, DVD, VCR, Stereo:
Feel free to use any and all, but you might find that our place is more
suited to staying un-plugged and getting a techno-break!
Books/Puzzles: Feel free to indulge and
make suggestions about what we should add.
Sporting Goods: You are welcome to use
skis, snowshoes, canoe, and bikes. Some of these items carry more risk
than others. Please make sure you understand the risks and are able to
accept any inherent dangers.
Nat-Pack: Enjoy birds, bugs, plants,
wildlife, and stars. We have binoculars, bird books, tracking books,
and astronomy books. If you find anything interesting, add it to our
guest storybook!
Mallard Lake: The lake covers more than
15 acres, two-thirds of it is more than 30 feet deep. It is
spring fed, and 1000s of years ago was part of a
river. It’s stocked with trout. Do catch and release! A Manitoba
fishing license is required.
Pets: We cannot keep pets in the house;
some pets may stay outside, provided you bring a suitable kennel. We
have four mostly outdoor cats who do spend time in the house. Three are
shy and one is a "people cat" which
welcomes snuggles. Cats will be confined to the outdoors during your
visit if requested. The neighbour’s dog, Cody, a massive
German
Shepherd, visits the yard daily. He used to live here and still thinks
it’s his territory. He’s friendly, but unwieldy. If you like dogs,
please insist that he sits before petting him. If you don't like him,
ignore him and he'll quickly loose interest.
Smoking: Guest who smoke are welcome to
indulge outside. Please be sure to fully extinguish all cigarette butts
and place them in the garbage (do not throw them on the ground).
Cleaning: Your room is your castle. We
won’t make beds. We will refresh sheets and towels every four days. We
want you to meet your comfort needs and will refresh supplies more
often, if you ask. We empty waste baskets daily and replenish soaps and
shampoos as needed.
Questions: Please ask anything of us. We
have studied the area, can make recommendations for activities and
restaurants, and just plain enjoy a good visit!
