Wild Berry Lane Hosts a Swingin' House Concert

On the Victoria Day weekend, the Celtic band Haste Ye Back entertained guests and family in the Wild Berry Lane Living Room. There was great music by the band plus singing, dancing, spoon and bodhran playing by the audience - a wonderful time. Tamela wants to do it again. Interested?

Want Veggies? Famous Bicycling Chicks' CSA Pilot Project

Karen & Tamela invite you to participate in their CSA Pilot Project. CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture". Individuals buy a share in the season's garden crop and receive vegetables delivered weekly to a central location. Deliveries will be made to Regina and possibly other locations in the Roblin region.

Manitoba B&B Association & Garden News

The garlic is up! It made it through the winter, third time may be a charm!

Tamela & Karen attended the Manitoba B&B Association's professional development day on Food Safety and Customer Service.

Heifer International Guests & Leadership Seminar

In March Wild Berry Lane hosted guests who were in Roblin for a Heifer International leadership training seminar. Tamela participated in the training. Now, she's itching to get to facilitating leadership development.

Direct Farm Marketing Conference

At the Direct Farm Marketing Conference in Brandon, Karen and Tamela presented a one-hour seminar about the story of our B&B and the award we received last year.

Heating With Wood Leads to Chainsaw Carving

The house at Wild Berry Lane is partially heated by wood. As a result Tamela and Karen have developed chainsaw skills. At the Northern Manitoba Trappers' Festival in The Pas, Tamela entered the chainsaw carving contest. Here she is working on her first ever carving.

Karen Tranfers

Karen transferred to Regina for her "off-farm, non-B&B" job as a water survey technician. The weekly commute is shorter and faster than the Winnipeg commute and Regina presents the opportunity to re-connect with old friends.

Our First Time Hosting Christmas

We finally had Karen's side of the family over for a big housewarming/Christmas party. This was our first crack at hosting a family event and it was a great time!

Home Improvements

Thanks to friend, Ron, a new sink and vanity has been installed in the basement washroom.

New Tractor for the Famous Bicycling Chicks

Tamela on tractorMowing, tilling, moving mulch and turning compost are now much easier thanks to a new John Deere.  The "get lucky" crops of mesclun, garlic, spinach and carrots are planted and mulched; the rest of the garden is ready for winter.

The International Restaurant & Hotel Awards has awarded Wild Berry Lane B&B  the "Best New Hotel of the Year" in Canada (2008 Value Hotel). Read about it in the Roblin Review:
